Google Help Central has a cheatsheet that summarizes the advanced search operators for the popular search engine. I like the tilde (~) operator – place it before a search term and google will not only search on the term, but also will search for the synonyms of that term! When it comes to doing searches on Google and other search engines we are essentially our own librarians; it behooves us to take a little time to learn some of these advanced features so that we can more easily drill down and find what we want quicker.
As the web becomes more and more inundated with endless information, becoming more sophisticated in your search skills is a great idea.
