Globally Recognized Avatars
Globally Recognized Avatars can be used to give a face to people who comment in your blog. Gravatars are much like the avatars that are seen in many online discussion forums. The cool thing about Gravatars is that your personal gravatar is kept on the gravitar website and is displayed on a blog by adding an image to your comments area with an “src” attribute that points to our gravatar image generator and includes an MD5 hash of the commenter’s email address. All gravatars are rated with an MPAA style rating, so you can restrict your site to show only gravatars whose content you are comfortable with.
