Open Source Web Spell Checker

by Tom

Speller Pages is an open source web spell checker that can be used on any HTML form field. It requires either PHP or PERL support on your server in order to integrate it onto your site. The demo is quite remarkable. When the script finds a spelling mistake it displays a dialog box that looks much like the spell checking dialog in MS office.

You can make use of it on message board software, webmail programs or web-based CMSs and more. If you are interested in giving your website a basic infrastructure upgrade this is a free web spellchecker that you could put to good use.

sounds handy. i wonder how hard it would be to port to ColdFusion.

the spellchecker that I like is the one built in gMail. It is very easy to use (though, perhaps, not very accessible) – not only that but their dictionary is much more complete than mine will ever be.

Hi,
nice work. But I am interested in a version in Coldfusion too. Kind regards
Thorsten
