Google Maps and XSL

Simon Willison disects Google Maps to discover that the new search utility from Google makes extensive use of XSL, VML and XSL. I’m sure this is the first of many analysis to come over the next few days.

If you haven’t heard about Google Maps, be sure to check it out as it is really quite amazing. We’ve become used to excellence offered for free from Google in its Gmail, Picasa and other functionality, but once you get in and start playing with Google Maps I think you’ll agree that this will change the way a lot of people will be navigating in their car and on foot in the future.

It’s more than an application that you will make use of on your computer; it’s potentially technology that could really change your life if they can figure out a way to use it on mobile devices future.
