Cake – A PHP WebApp Framework

by Tom

Cake is a new PHP web application framework that follows MVC principals and is loosely modelled after Ruby on Rails. Still in early development, the releases are coming fast and furious, so it may be a new technology to keep your eyes on. The documentation basically promises that CakePHP will enable PHP users on every level to quickly develop powerful Web applications.

That’s fairly general but as I looked through the site I thought it looked fairly impressive. It’s a rapid development framework for PHP that aims to give you extensible architecture to develop and deploy apps. It also claims to be cheaper because with it developers can write less code.

We have had browser war reloaded between IE and Netscape/Firefox, now are we going to have AP server war reloaded between PHP and ColdFusion, especially with the Adobe acquisition news?
