CSS Rebooted

If you’re a regular visitor to this site, you will have noticed the launch of my latest redesign. This design is part of the annual May 1st CSS Reboot. The new site makes use of a number of “newer” web development techniques like sFIR, Nifty Corners, a sidebar powered by AJAX and an update to the Textpattern software that runs this site. I’ll post more details about those in the coming week.

The site still needs a couple of small tweaks and I’ll be updating those as the day progresses. So until then, I hope you like my latest design.

Not to be rude, the new one is more technologically advanced, but the old design seems nicer and more professional looking!

I like it. It’s a nice change and I think it is better then the previous design. I’m not 100% on the menu just yet, but I like the content and the homepage, with how it is all displayed.

    Nice work.

Thanks Dan. Funny thing – I was just checking your site out! Saw it at the CSS Reboot. Gave you 5 stars!

I like the new design—but I don’t like the use of sIFR for article header links. It’s not the worst sin in the world, but unfortunately it doesn’t allow us to open the link in tabs. Looks good, though _

Good point about the “open in tabs” issue. Now that you bring it up, I love that feature and may be a good reason to dump the sIFR!

hi, i like your new design very much. as always your site is highly entertaining and well made! plus you fixed the rss-link :)

    bye

ps: what really annoys me about sIFR the most is that when you use adblock you have that little adblock button above every heading. maybe i can disable it somewhere for this site

Site looks great, Jim. I really dig the blue pattern in the sidebar, they just look good. Everything renders really well too.

Think next year the CSS reboot will possible, but this year I wasn’t even aware until I saw it on your RSS feed.

I don’t like your new design, but I don’t care about it – I read your (really good) website in a newsreader.

The only thing I ask you to change: favicon. It’s just ugly and doesn’t fit anything. Please do tweak.

I like it. One thing I will miss though is that random photo at the top. It was so intersting browsing around your site and seeing it change.

I’m glad you dumped sIFR. I hated it. Not only did open in new tab/window not work, it messed up my scrollwheel when I was scrolling over it. I even went as far as to Adblock the sIFR JavaScript file for this site. But it’s gone now and that’s good.
