You’re It! is a new site devoted to Folksonomies or tagging. Lead by Clay Shirky, the new site will offer insight and news on the new phenomenon of tagging information for later retrieval.
It should be pretty obvious by now that the explosion of information through which we are living requires that we come up with better ways of categorizing everything, less as a matter of convenience than for the fact that it will be lost forever in the swirl of new information into we don’t do so.
But who’s job is this? The whole rationalization is summed up in a quote from Shirky at the top of the homepage of the website:
