Many developers and information architects find the process of creating user personas to be a valuable part of building a user experience. D. Keith Robinson has a great article titled – Persona Sketching – that explains how to build your own personas for your own projects. This esoteric sounding term has the function of keeping website owners focused on a specific subset of their audience by sketching particular characteristics of a given “average” user.
Even though we might not always have much hard information about who’s using our sites, to the extent that we do persona sketching can have considerable value in keeping us focused on exactly those for whom we are creating.
