Google Blogoscoped is reporting that a new Google subdomain – calendar.google.com is now active and maybe an indication that Google is about to release a web-based calendar application. Hopefully Google will do to online calendaring what gmail has done for web-based mail. If Gmail is any indication they probably will.
I have been wondering if using Google for so many aspects of what I’m doing makes me perhaps too reliant on the company. Not that I’m worried about their servers going down (!) but for one thing they will have huge amounts of data on what I do and when I do it if they add a calendar application to Gmail. It’s just something to think about critically.
