Variable Scope for New Programmers

by Tom Mullaly on October 18, 2005

Digital Web Magazine offers an article by Jonathan Snook that introduces the concept of Variable Scope for New Programmers. Understanding variable scope is essential in today’s Web 2.0 environment, where DOM manipulation scripts can get large and memory expensive. I had never heard of this particular magazine until a programmer friend e-mailed me a link to this article, and I found the quality of it to be high enough so that the site is now in my RSS feed reader.

It’s important to me to cater to new programmers on this site every bit as much as it is to introduce some esoteric tip about a relatively obscure language; I’m always grateful for feedback from my readers as to how I’m doing.
