Greg Yardley is reporting that Google is testing out Click-to-Call AdWords. Now when you see a phone icon next to an AdWord listing, you can click on it where you are then prompted to enter your phone number. You will then recieve a phone call from the advertiser. I’ll pass but nonetheless, it’s an interesting new marketing approach for advertisers (and telemarketers?). Wow, I can imagine if this actually gains traction in the marketplace among users.
It could potentally displace so much passive text advertising. I’m a little bit skeptical that people will find it as compelling to click and wait for a telephone call as they do simply clicking on a Google ad and getting more information by way of their browser immediately. We’ll see.
