Michael Sippey has a tounge-in-cheek list that you can use as a checklist to see if your new web application is Web 2.0 Compliant! The funny thing is that there is a few items here that startups really will want to look at to make sure that they don’t get lost in the web 2.0 shuffle.
I’m talking about items such as the following:
- Give us your e-mail address will let you know when it’s ready!
- Public Beta Alpha
- Feeds for everything
- The obligatory Google Maps mashup
The point here isn’t that these aren’t great features, but that there’s no shortcut to real excellence simply by adopting features that everyone else has built into their applications and marketing campaigns.
