The movie theaters could skip all the legal hassle and just use a special paint from http://www.forcefieldwireless.com, which is supposed to suppress wireless and cell phone usage.

Yeah and I wish they could tape the mouths shut of the people that feel the need to talk through the entire movie.
and how about not letting little kids into movies that the kids are obvious too small to be seeing. I saw a kid no older than 2 in Star Wars: Episode III, and the kid cried through most of the movie.

JT - Tape is not needed. Where I come from, you will never see an usher! If the theatre owners spent a little more money on ushers, most of the problems with today’s movie going experience would be solved. From out of focus projectors, to audio problems, to noisy kids, ushers would go a long way to giving me more bang for my buck.
What really pisses me off is the economics. To pay for one usher for a single night’s work, you only need to sell 6 bags of popcorn! It seems odd that the Theatre Owners seem to think that cell phones are the biggest problem when there are so many smaller things they can do make me want to go to more movies.
I’m not opposed to them getting their wishes, so long as they are required to post very large signs saying… “THIS IS SOBIBOR!!!! NO HUMANS OR OBJECTS SHOULD __DARE__ CONTACT YOU WHILE YOU ARE LOCKED UP IN HERE!!!!”
After working at a Theater for years I can tell you that the only reason theaters exist today is because of that popcorn, over priced or not. Movie companies take up to 95% of the $ you pay at the box office. (Sometimes even 100% of box office income for the first two weeks of the contract.)
Cell phones in movies are just part of the problem. People who insist on yacking throughout the film are increasingly more common. “Look he is opening the door”. And seems to me that some people don’t eat before coming to the theater given all the junk food they purchase and noisily eat while they are theoretically watching the movie, slurping on their 2 gallon coke. I don’t get it - there is no appeal of going to a mega-plex. It used to be cool to go some of the art type theaters but even those are being invaded by talkers.
