CSSTidy is an open source CSS parser and optimiser. You can use it as executeable file which can be controlled via the command line or through a PHP script. The parser is available for Windows, Linux and OSX. Probably the main benefit of optimizing is that your pages are going to load quite a bit faster, which rule will result in lower traffic costs. Even as most of the Western world starts to get ubiquitous broadband connections, websites are getting more media rich so would still tend to load slower than we would prefer.
Any professional who works with CSS should have this little tool in their virtual toolbox–it’s made even better by being cross-platform.
