The pundits at Google Blogoscoped have offered their top 15 Search Predictions for 2006. Briefly, they are predicting Web-wide video search; graphic advertisements on search results in addition to text ads; buying new startups; a consolidation phase that makes them scale back their new services for a while; the release of Google Calendar, integrated with Gmail; a major index update that will really shakeup the search engine results pages; a Yahoo update that has people switching from Gmail to Yahoo e-mail; improved translation tools; much faster indexing especially for high page rank websites; a web-based version of Google talk; a privacy lawsuit with the US government; an IRC chat search; and a few other interesting predictions in search for next year that you’ll find quite provocative.
