If you made a New Year’s resolution to redesign your blog, you may want to start with Rachel Cunliffe’s list of current Blog Design Trends. It’s an interesting list and I think I agree with most of these prognostications:
- Big fonts! It’s pretty clear that these are getting more popular and I agree that they add some style to webpages that would otherwise be too visually similar.
- A top border, only five or six pixels high.
- Big, oversized headers and footers.
- Brighter colors–I definitely agree you’re seeing more of this now.
- New visual characteristics for comments, such as speech bubbles.
- Rounded corners–we have been a lot about this and these are clearly rising in popularity.
- Highlighted links, rather than links are underlined.
