This knowledge base post from VMWare recently helped me while installing RedHat Fedora Core 5 in VMWare Server. How to change your SCSI controller was required as during the install of Fedora Core, the FC5 installer complained that no hard disk could be found. Changing the SCSI controller fixed this. If you think you might ever have a need to install Fedora Core 5 do yourself a favor and bookmark this short article for the day when you do because I spent a lot of time trying to find a workaround for changing my SCSI controller before I found the help I needed here.

Thanks for the tip!! Needed it for the same purpose!
So which controller works with Red Hat? The linked article only shows how to change, not which is preferred.
I used:
scsi0.virtualDev = “lsilogic”
and it worked fine.
