Adult Proof Ring-Tones?
It’s in the NY Times so it must be true!? Apparently there is a A Ring Tone circulating on the Internet that adults cannot hear! As people get older, we loose the ability to hear high frequency sounds, so some smart Brits have devised a ring-tone that is generally outside the frequency range of most adults. Think of the possibilities… A young person could know when he or she is recieving a text-message while in class!

Man, that’s an annoying sound. I would imagine that pitch would be very hard to hear w/any kind of background noise.
Why not just use vibrate to go stealth?
This idea (sounds that adults can no longer hear) is also be used for the benefit of adults who want to be rid of teenagers.

yeah, you’ve actually got it the wrong way around, the ‘mosquito’ anti-kid deterent came first, the kids were just cleverer than the adults and turned the sound against them by recording it and using it as a ring tone.
Why not simply set it on vibrate? Well, if you keep your phone in your purse, or backpack, you won’t feel it on vibrate.
Besides, the fact that every single kid in the classroom can hear it, and knows someone got a call, but the teacher is absolutely clueless is certainly worth something in teenage culture.
