Console is a Command Prompt replacement for windows whose features include: multiple tabs, text editor-like text selection, different background types, alpha and color-key transparency, configurable font, different window styles. If you find you have a lot of open command prompt windows open (maybe when developing with Rails) this utility is definitely for you! I have been using this lately and I have found that it has simplified my desktop and I’m pretty sure that it’s also resulted in a productivity boost, especially Rails development-wise. I would suggest giving it a shot for at least a couple of weeks if you are also a Rails developer to see what you think.

So, is there anyway to replace the default console with this app? I’ve been looking for something like this for quite some time.
If you use version 2 beta 130, it allows you to specify a command shell and starting directory under Settings:Console.
