If you’re running an Apache web server, you should most definately give this short how-to a try. Security Testing your Apache Configuration with Nikto is super simple to follow and you might find the results surprising (like I did). I expect that you can’t think of any compelling reasons to avoid this sort of security testing that this tutorial will guide you through. If you go take a look at it you’ll be happy to see how easily you can implement the techniques the author is suggesting. Nikto certainly isn’t going to guarantee a secure configuration but it’s a huge step in the right direction if you feel you aren’t as aware as you should be of security on your Apache configuration.
