Yummy FTP & SFTP Client
Yummy FTP has quickly become my favorite FTP/SFTP client for the Mac. I like it so much, I even bought it! This client is packed with some great features like fast threaded transfers, failure auto-recovery, uploading from finder, auto-upload folders, directory synchronization, scheduling and remote editing.

Nice tool, something same available for PC?
I’m looking for a good handy tool to synchronise updated website files.
I’m working with Visual SourceSafe … It should be easy to have an organisation in such a way to update a whole project (where it’s in its folder) to the right ftp connection.
- folder project A –> update –> ftp connection A
- folder project B –> update –> ftp connection B
..
..
I have several (about 20) website to maintain … some automation should be handy.
greetings, kb
I haven’t used an FTP client on a PC in quite a while now. Maybe another reader could suggest an alternative. At my last job, we used Ant to manage the uploading of sites from our source repository to live site. Ant (http://ant.apache.org/) might be overkill, but it does work well and his highly scriptable/customizable.
On the Windows side, I recommend Filezilla. It is probably the best, free s/ftp client for Windows. In terms of synchronizing an entire website, I think it can do this, but I am not sure.
One excellent way of synchronizing entire websites though is through the use of Subversion or CVS. Store the site in Subversion and then you can update the deployed site via a single command. This does assume though that you have command line access on your hosting sites. This technique has the added ability that you can keep your sites synced across many computers.
As long as we’re mentioning non-free FTP clients for the Mac, I have to put in a vote for Transmit: http://www.panic.com/transmit/
