How Secure are Your Passwords?

by Tom Mullaly on April 11, 2007

John Pozadzides tells you How He’d Hack Your Weak Passwords. It’s neat to see how somebody might attempt to crack your passwords. And while you are learning some password cracking techniques, keep in mind how you might create better, less crackable passwords in the future.  I would say that this article gets my vote for  one of the top 10 article titles for 2007. It does certainly draw you in, doesn’t it? Still the way to make your system more secure is by being aware of its current shortcomings and in this way Pozadzides is doing what amounts to a public service.  Most of these tips are borderline common sense but still, if you are committing any of these computer security sins you should immediately review some passwords.
