Show Desktop by Everyday Software is a neat little utility for OSX that mimics the Show Desktop button in Windows.  Click on the icon in the Dock and it hides all open windows until you decide to show them again.  A friend of mine asked why not just use the F11 key to show your desktop?  F11 only temporarily shows your desktop while you find a file.  Show desktop is a bit different.  You can specify which windows to never hide, so if you have a nosy boss, you could say tell Show Desktop to never hide Excel!  Now when you boss comes by, you click the Show Desktop icon and it now looks like you are hard at work in Excel (yuk)!
