You can purchase Flex Builder at the Adobe Store via the banner (you’ll get no pressure from me), but for a while there was a way to get it free. Adobe affiliates could post a link that led to this, on the Adobe site:
Adobe Flex Builder 3 software is currently available for free for software developers who are affected by the current economic condition and are currently unemployed. To receive the product under this program, user must attest to the fact that they are currently unemployed and that the software will be used only for personal use not for any production or commercial purposes.
Well unfortunately, this is no longer offered. I was excited to put the affiliate link for this offer on Digital Media Minute, until I read that because Adobe has received 15,000 requests for participation in this program, they are no longer accepting new enrollees.
Well if you can’t get it for free, you can still certainly learn it for free.
You have the ‘Learn Flex in a Week’ video training course, and the Flex Learning Paths tutorials.
Here’s a link to the trial version of Flex Builder 3 Professional, which is good for 60 days, which should be enough time to get fairly familiar.
Also, sign up here for a free 2-month Safari Books Online subscription to a selection of books on Flex 3 and related RIA development technologies.
While we’re on the subject, here are just a few links to the several dozen Flex-related posts that Digital Media Minute has done over the years:
Here’s a flex thumbnail browser component called ThumbBrowser, created by Jim Rutherford.
