Yehuda Katz, lead developer of the Merb project and now a member of the Ruby on Rails core team, has a remarkably clear writing style. Here he explains how ActiveModel exposes some of the most useful functionality contained in monolithic components in Rails 3, similar to the way that ActionPack facilitates reuse of the router, dispatcher, and individual parts of ActionController. Katz should definitely be in your RSS feed if you consider yourself someone who wants to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and Ruby on Rails, at least since he is a core team member if for no other reason.
