I share the general philosophy being promulgated here which is that you’re better off doing nothing to hurt your existing rankings than you are trying too hard to improve them by using tactics that could easily backfire. The problem here is that search engines cannot make it generally known how to improve your ranking, since That would make it easier for people who are simply trying to achieve good rankings in the search engines to take shortcuts. Search engines would prefer that you simply write great content that people will enjoy and link to organically. Come to think of it that’s probably the best philosophy when you’re creating content for the Internet anyway, rather than trying to cheat.
