Yummy FTP has quickly become my favorite FTP/SFTP client for the Mac. I like it so much, I even bought it! This client is packed with some great features like fast threaded transfers, failure auto-recovery, uploading from finder, auto-upload folders, directory synchronization, scheduling and remote editing.

During my recent trip to SXSW, Dustin Diaz introduced me to a new and powerful editor for Windows. E-TextEditor is a TextMate clone for Windows that shares many of the features found in its Mac father. Features like support for TextMate bundles, commands and bundles could make this a nice option for those of us who have to develop on both Apple and Windows platforms.

The Amazon Web Services Developer Connection site has a great tutorial that will show you how to Mount Amazon S3 as a File System in Amazon EC2. S3 is Amazon’s distributed storage service and EC2 is their distributed, virtualized server solution. In the past it was difficult to have persistent storage in EC2, but now using S3, persistent storage is possible.

Adobe has just released the first public alpha of Apollo. Apollo is a cross-platform runtime environment that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, JavaScript, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop. I have been playing with private builds of Apollo for about 6 weeks now, and I must admit that the Apollo/Flex platform is way too much fun! I hope to release my Twitter client over the next few days. I plan on releasing the source so you can check out how easy and fun it is to create Internet connected desktop applications.
