To the Moon

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Owen and I had a great weekend.  His class is learning about rockets, and for his show and tell we had to make one.  So we spent the weekend building this replica Saturn rocket (the one used in the Apollo missions) out of paper maché.

To the Moon

When we were done, we celebrated by watching Apollo 13!

It Makes Me Happy…

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Source: WikipediaTake it Easy by the Eagles is a song that always seems to make me happy. I’ve never been a huge Eagles fan nor a fan of this music genre, but it’s really a happy song! I realized this a while back when dealing with a DSL service provider’s customer service. Every time I called (yes - the service was not very good) the first song they played was Take it Easy. I remember that it put me in such a good mood, that I actually hoped nobody would pick up for a couple of minutes. One fact you may not know about this song is that it was co-written by Jackson Browne.

What’s your happy song?

Are There Any Flex Developers on Vancouver Island?

Friday, March 21st, 2008

I’ve been wondering lately how many Flex/Flash developers we have on Vancouver Island.  I know there are a few here, here and a couple more here so there must be a fer more kicking around.  I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a Flex/Flash Users’ Group, but would only do so if there were enough interested developers.  If you’re interested send me an email (jim.rutherford[at]gmail.com) or leave a comment that includes your name and email address on this post.

Quick Thought on No Flash on iPhone

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

So the iPhone is powerful enough to run Spore & Super Monkey Ball  but not powerful enough to run Flash or Flex applications?  Seems odd to me.
