Breaking the Gigapixel Barrier

Bryce Point in Bryce Canyon National Park has been captured in a phenomenal 1 Gigapixel Image! The photo consists of 196 separate photographs taken with a 6 megapixel digital camera, and then stitched together into one seamless composite.

The final image is 40,784×26,800 pixels in size, and contains about 1.09 billion pixels! Check out the FAQ at the bottom of the page where the photographer writes specifically about the process of taking a 1 gigapixel photo.

ZDNet report that in the streaming video market, Flash is coming out of the shadows. Macromedia’s Flash has surfaced as an alternative platform for streaming video and rich content development.

In an arena where Microsoft’s Media Player, Real Player, and Apple Quicktime seem to dominate the market, Macromedia is quietly gaining some ground. One of the bigger advantages of Flash is the fact that the swf file format natively streams over HTTP. This means that most web developers can stream video without having to purchase streaming server software, or find a host that can support it.
