An essential extension/sidebar for web developers using Firefox, UrlParams conveniently summarizes all of your URL parameters into a readable and usable sidebar. It show the querystring from the last request to the server. Sure, you can see the same info with LiveHTTPHeaders, but the layout of this extension is a show-stopper!

Next Generation JavaScript Console

Friday, December 9th, 2005

I absolutly love the JavaScript Console in Firefox and with the release of Firefox 1.5, it got even better. Now the standard JS console displays not only great JavaScript error messages, but it now show you CSS errors! The only problem is that with so much information appearing in the console, it can be difficult to find the errors you are looking for. Enter Console². It is a Firefox extension that adds some great filtering options for the console like showing only JavaScript, CSS or XML errors and filtering the source of errors like on the page you are viewing (content) or errors in the Firefox UI (chrome).

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

ietab is a vary neat Firefox Extension that allows you to switch between the IE and Firefox rendering engines right within the Firefox browser. Here is how it works. Once installed, when you browse to a page in Firefox, you will notice a small Firefox icon in the status bar. Click on that icon and the page get’s rendered with IE’s rendering engine and the logo changes to the IE logo. I use this all the time now when I’m developing - it’s a real timesaver!

Bookmark Tags Firefox Extension

Friday, November 18th, 2005

Bookmark Tags Firefox Extension is a neat new way to organize your local bookmarks. It operates much like the del.icio.us public bookmarking system, by allowing you to tag your bookmarks with simple words. Traditional bookmarking systems force you to organize your bookmarks into folders with one bookmark per folder. The beauty with this extension is that one bookmark can have many tags freeing you from the traditional folder heirarchy model.
