Vectored Flash Overlays for Google Maps

Vectored Flash Overlays for Google Maps (VGMap) is a new library that extends the GMap API and allows designers and developers to overlay data on top of Google Maps in a richer way than is possible using their standard system. The vector graphics are handled by Flash and there is also a facility for introducing animation onto your map.

Sneak Peek of Google Spreadsheets

Google Labs is offering a Sneak Peek of Google Spreadsheets. The new web-based spreadsheet offers basic features like formatting, sorting and formulas. It will allow you to import existing spreadsheets in CSV and XLS format and also outputs in these formats as well (gee I wonder if they will Save as PDF?) The killer feature with this application is the ability to collaboratively edit a spreadsheet online. An invitiation must be sent to your team members so your spreadsheet remains private. Interesting Mapping Mashup

Pin in the map is an interesting yet simple mashup that allows you to annotate a position on a map then send a link to that point to your friends. For example, if you went to a great restaurant, you could locate it on the map, add a description, then send the resulting page to your friends and family.

Google Launches Calendar Product

Google has just opened up their latest beta product “Google Calendar“. If you already have a GMail account, signing up is as easy as visiting the Calendar site and logging in with your existing GMail username and password. It pretty much like most calendaring applications and has features like calendar sharing, inviting others to events, GMail integration, mobile access and of course the famous Google search!

Gmail for your domain is a new service that Google is requesting beta testers for.  The beta test will let you give Gmail, Google’s webmail service, to every user at your domain.  The service comes complete with a 2GB storage limit which is odd as my personal GMail account currently has a 2.6GB limit (and growing every day).

Google has provided a Add to Google button feature that can easily be integrated onto your blog or other site that offers RSS feeds. By placing an “Add to Google” button to your website your visitor will have an easier time adding you feed to their Google homepage or Google Reader. Not to be outdone, Yahoo! offers a similar feature.
